Illustrations
Designed these female forms for a friend. She was looking for some line drawings to put on the wall of her new apartment. I really enjoy simple line drawings, they need require very little drawing ability but look good. Thinking about getting a new iPad this holiday season so I can draw more freely.

Daily UI
Okay, okay, I know. I'm basic and dorky. But give me this one. I spent the past four years in Los Angeles and I haven't seen real autumn since I left the east coast. It's been so nice waking up to crisp weather and harvest colors. October is my second favorite month (after April because it's my birthday month) so I made these illustrations today to celebrate.

Daily UI
It has definitely been awhile since I did one of these. That's not to say I haven't been working on projects, but I haven't really done anything for myself or my own enjoyment of design lately. I'm not going to pretend this hasn't been a hard year, I think everyone is feeling that to varying degrees. I tend to find solace in books where I can live vicariously through other worlds and the people adventuring within them. With that in mind, today I created a product app for the purchase of classic books. I'm always collecting fancy covers when I see them, in the hopes that I someday have a library. Additionally, I have read all of the books within this mockup, and would recommend some of them for the current climate.

Daily UI
I promise I'm going to start designing app and website concepts again soon, but today I was really missing travel so I did this Daily UI for a postage stamp that is Parisian themed. Paris is my favorite city, I was supposed to go this year but my trip was halted due to Covid, and now I'm hoping to go next year instead. The ache I feel to be in France right now is simply indescribable. So I eased it a little with this UI.

Daily UI
I think there are only two types of creatives right now: ones that are thriving in the circumstances we face, and ones with no drive at all. I haven't been doing anything I usually love doing, so I don't have much to share. But today I did a Daily UI for stroked illustrations off the challenge list. I made three different flowers because even though I see flowers on my social distance walks, I can't stop to smell them with my mask on.

Branding
I keep hearing about a lot of people finding new hobbies or great projects during the pandemic, but I have had no such luck. I feel quite lacking in creativity, probably because I gain the most inspiration from adventures and being out in nature. In an effort to spark some ideas, I made some branding for my girl squad. We've been best friends since we interned at Disney, and they've been the source of my sanity during this situation. So I made this logo for us. Hope everyone is staying safe and well.

Daily UI
Week two of quarantine and my legs feel exhausted each day from just sitting down, it's difficult to fall asleep because I am not getting regular exercise or social stimulation. It's a strange time. But while I am feeling a little down, I have a lot to be thankful for. My family is all healthy right now, my parents are staying home. I'm working on some cool projects, and Animal Crossing helps. For today's Daily UI, I made a to do list: quarantine edition. First screen is monthly tasks, second is the day's.

Micro interactions
I'll admit it, quarantine has been rough for me. I'm going stir crazy staying in my apartment all day. Fortunately, I've been working on some pretty cool projects. For fun today I messed around with micro interactions in XD. Very simple, just getting my feet wet.

Daily UI
Anyone who knows me knows I'm not the best at self care. I tend to pour my time and energy into projects and responsibilities and leave little time to check in with myself about how I'm doing. So today I created this concept for a Daily Dashboard that would remind the user to do their self care as well as giving them their daily information. Created for both light and dark mode.

Daily UI
Happy Leap Day! We're done with February which means spring is coming soon! Wasn't feeling too well this week which left me tired and uninspired. But I find the best way to get your groove back is to push yourself, so I created this e-commerce Daily UI for purchasing flowers. We're lucky in LA to see flowers pretty much all year around, but I'm still looking forward to seeing some spring blooms in the next month or so.

Daily UI
This was on the Daily UI challenge list but I'm not sure the purpose of making dark mode/light mode playing cards except for that it was fun. I suppose they could be used if you were playing a card game within app. I chose the two playing cards that were always my favorite, the ace of spades and the queen of diamonds. Made in Sketch.

Daily UI
This week marks the 10 year anniversary of my very worst day. Not really something to celebrate, but it has me thinking about mental health and grief, two things that often come with a lot of stigma. And if you're a person that doesn't understand grief or has never experienced it, I greatly recommend this twitter thread by Lauren Herschel because she does a great job of explaining it.

For my part, in thinking about these things, I created this animation UI for a breathing exercise. Sometimes people need a little extra help, care, and love. And sometimes, when you're struggling, you just need to remember to breathe.

I wanted it to be as calming as possible, so I used a soft UI skeuomorphic design. Made in Adobe XD.

Daily UI
Missing my family the past couple of weeks, it's difficult when they're 3000 miles away and can only visit a few times a year. So for today's Daily UI, I created an app for a hypothetical airline booking a flight to my original home. Screens show seat selection, flight details, and boarding pass.

Daily UI
I actually had no intentions of doing this today. I was searching something completely unrelated when I came across a picture of a 1983 Fiat Spider and found inspiration. There was just something about it (coupled with recently watching Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) that sparked my love for classic cars. I noticed while I was researching the prices of the cars I used that classic car sites don't seem to lean into their brand, and could really use an update. This was super fun to make, I may expand on it later.

Daily UI
Today I created an E-Wallet off the Daily UI Challenge List. I never would've guessed I would enjoy working on designs related to banking, but I did notice that with this and my Spendr App, I actually really had fun. It was honestly shocking how easy it was to find the font for a credit card as well as a security chip. Shouldn't we be doing more to protect ourselves from counterfeiting (joke, I know there's more to it than that). Anyway, hope you enjoy my E-Wallet. Made in Sketch.

Daily UI
This Daily UI was not on the challenge list. I thought of it when I was in San Francisco last week watching my friend struggle to figure out how much water his new plants needed. He actually seemed to know nothing of plants in the slightest. So I thought it might be nice to come up with a concept of an app that would track your plants' habits. Made in Sketch.

Daily UI
Today's daily UI was a food and drink menu. I decided to go the route of organic juices/superfoods. I took inspiration from organic looking shapes and included watercolor to make the images pop. This took me awhile because finding the images of juice splashing was not the easiest task. But it was fun! Made in Sketch, all images borrowed from various Google searches.

Social Impact Hackathon
This week, I participated in a Social Impact Hackathon for the Los Angeles Food Policy Council. Our mission was to create a functioning dashboard for learning resources and data, as well as implement easy admin functionality for future edits. I worked with a team of two other brilliant designers (Nick King Strong and Sherry Tao), an extraordinary data scientist (Jerry Lin), and four ingenious software engineers (Jason Moon, Luke Chang, Eder Canada, and Mark Calvelo). We were able to create a working site with real time data coverage and visually appealing statistics. We won "Crowd Favorite", and we had a great time working together. Congrats to the winners and the other teams, all of which were able to craft some truly amazing work.

Daily UI
Happy New Year! I took some time off because my family was here for two weeks to celebrate the holidays. Today I began a new year (and decade) with a single product page for Tissot Watches. I've always really loved watches and they way they both look and photograph, so I got a lot of delight out of this little ecommerce project. Made in Sketch.

Daily UI
For today's UI, I created a web based travel destination page for Yellowstone National Park. The photos were taken by me, on my trip there last year. They feature Mammoth Hot Springs (top right) and Castle Geyser (bottom left). Made in Sketch.

Daily UI
Today I created two screens of a weather app, one for daytime and one for nighttime. I utilized a line to show shifting temperatures, not that temps shift too much here in Los Angeles. If I work on this little project again later, I'll probably do screens for a city with a bit more range in atmospheric conditions. Made in Sketch.

Daily UI
Today I created an interval timer for workouts using soft UI. Integrated music into the timer so user could utilize their playlists without having to leave the app. Mock up shows the base screen, pulling up the playlists, and what the timer would look like in progress with a song playing. Made in Sketch.
